Canouan serene island with its coral reef, protects landscapes, colours and feelings. And then, the fauna! How many beasts, goats and kids, cocks and hens, donkeys, sheep, iguanas, birds of all kinds and colours, of sea and land …all this, you might think, is a dream? No! This is simply Canouan, island of turtles!

Attractions

Small bays and coves, most with long sweeping white sand beaches, surround Canouan Island. They are pristine and a few are a challenge to access. The island is partially surrounded by the coral reef on the Atlantic side, which adds protection to many of the beaches. Endless expanses of fine sand, its gleaming white in dramatic contrast to the strong colours of the luxuriant vegetation and tropical sea await those who seek a solitary encounter with nature.

Food

Canouan Island offers a variety of several restaurants. For an elegant evening out, La Varenne, sophisticated gourmet European haute cuisine at the Villa Monte Carlo. Or perhaps La Piazza with its lively Italian fare. Alternatively, for a spectacular take on trans-ethnic culinary art try Jambu’s, voted one of the most romantic restaurants in the Caribbean. For less formal dining, watch the bobbing boats at the Godhal’s Beach Bar and Grill restaurant with great pizza and Italian/Caribe creations. Grill and salad bar make Godhal the place to be whilst taking the sun or on a star studded evening.

Canouan uses the local Eastern Caribbean Dollars (EC$).
