Learn more about Victor Hugo, the exiled French writer who made these islands famous in the late 1800s, at the Hauteville House. He spent 14 years of his life here and the house is extraordinarily well preserved.

Explore La Valette Underground Military Museum, which is an old German Tunnel complex. This unique museum has a display of the island's military history, an aquarium and open-air bathing pools. Visit the Guernsey Museum and Art Gallery, located in Candie Gardens, where you can see the history of the island on film in one of its cinemas. Spend the day at one of the many beaches on Guernsey. There are more than 20 bays to choose from and more water sports than you can imagine.

The Channel Islands are known for their dairy products - especially their milk, which is touted to be the best in the world, and their locally grown produce, which thrives in the sunny climate.
