Waterford

Waterford is a large Irish seaport known the world over for its glass industry. Explore the town´s Viking heritage at the 10th-century Reginald´s Tower, now a museum. Visit the glass factory for an inside look at the craftsmanship that produces the fine crystal ware.

Take a walking tour of Historic Waterford, a worthwhile way to get an understanding of Waterford’s complex history. Reginald’s Tower - The 70-foot tower was built in the 11th century. You can climb the stone spiral staircase for a great view of the city. French Church - The ruins of this church are part of a Dominican monastery built in 1240 A.D. and given to Huguenot refugees in the 17th century. Theater Royal and City Hall - These are considered architectural masterpieces by John Roberts.

Shopping

The most famous buy here is no doubt the world-renowned Waterford Crystal, which can be purchased at the factory itself or at shops in town. The major shopping areas in Waterford are the Quay, Broadstreet and Barronstrand Street.

Food

The foreign invasion has made its way to Waterford, with the Chinese and Italians dominating the culinary scene. Pubs also serve food, including a wide range of seafood and steaks. They are a good choice to experience great Irish charm.
